Young lady on her way to stardom.

The children thought that I had set up the studio for them. They paraded on my backdrop while we waited for our lovely guest to appear. They enjoy having their picture taken more often than not now and my oldest stages the scenes.

It was interesting chatting with Corina. She is working on Smallville right now. My MIL was key hair on that show for 7 years and she was so wiped out by the end of her stint. Corina has fresh young eyes and can handle the insane hours. Good luck to her and her career.

Honour Queen for a day.

June is the month for the passing on of the Honour Queen as I learned this past weekend. The reigning young woman retired her crown, but not before we documented her in her regalia.
It was a lovely afternoon spent walking along a bike path for the most part which is not the easiest place to record images as I found out and yet I should have known. It was a fun shoot and I learned a lot. It is always a good thing to expand my mind.

Graduation Photos

I was out at UBC photographing the VST grads in their gowns. I will photograph the convocation in May. This is the second year of taking their portraits and it is an interesting experience. I asked more questions this year about what the grads do with their degrees and it is quite varied. Some graduates go into ministries of all spiritual and religious forms. Other graduates are counsellors who desire a greater understanding of their clients spiritual backgrounds. I was impressed by the diversity of reasons in pursuing this degree.

I was asked to do headshots for a young woman who is contemplating a career in acting. It was raining that day so the majority of the shoot occurred indoors. I really like the photos that we did manage to capture outside. A few of my favourites are posted here.

The lot no longer eludes me.

I finally fulfilled a creative wish Sunday. I had the amazing oppurtunity to shoot Kevin Lee Burton, a young aboriginal film maker from Winnipeg. He relayed his vision to me of how he wanted the shoot to proceed and I suggested an abandoned lot that I have been anxiously wanting to photograph in.
The weather was perfect.... a dark moody Vancouver fall day with moments of glorious sunshine illuminating our pallete of greens and blues.
